Count me in. I do. A lot of hooks came in cardboard in the past.
I have a little carboard box with Mustad hooks in it. I've had it for a long time.
Hooks also came in a small round tin.
yup, eagle claw hooks came in the little round tin, and then later they switched to a rectangular clear plastic box. both were great miniature tackle boxes, throw a couple sinkers in, stick it in your pocket and take off down the creek. you stick a pack of hooks in your pocket these days and you have a very short fishing trip on your hands.
I do.
No free spool reels, steel rods were new.And some of these lakes were creeks!
I fished basically my whole life from about 4 years old. I'm 50 now. When was this??? Did I miss it??? Hahahaha all I remember is small plastic boxes or a box of assorted hooks. Maybe it's a regional thing?? Pretty much grew up in Florida and South Carolina. Just asking![]()
I only have you by 5 years, don't no about the regional thing here is a pic I found though.http://ts3.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.46938...h=168&c=7&rs=1
Hey dac, that is a picture of my box of hooksI also have a round tin of hooks lying around somewhere. DJD, I have you by a couple of years but I don't know if this a regional thing or not seeing as I have always lived in KY.
I also remember we got most of our sporting goods/licenses at Western Auto. Times sure have changed.
Thats funny you mention Western Auto I was thinking of them the other day I remember going and looking at the fishing tackle and the whole section would smell of anise. Western Auto is where I got my first BB gun. lolHey dac, that is a picture of my box of hooksI also have a round tin of hooks lying around somewhere. Growing up 99% of our tackle came from the military base (Navy Exchange) my dad was a 30 year navy guy and we mainly fished saltwater. Regarding the idea of how things were.....I love the older stuff and memories of old. The excitement of going down the fishing isle at the exchange was exciting and getting all fired up and then going fishing was priceless.Hey dac, that is a picture of my box of hooksI also have a round tin of hooks lying around somewhere.
