I just found out that the IDNR did a depth survey for Loon Pit in Warrick County and added this map to the other maps on the INDR web site. The map has ten foot contour lines I think. And the data is sparse at Best.

I'm pretty sure that IDNR sold or gave data to Lakemaster and that Lakemaster used that data base to make the Otter Pit and Bluegrass Pit maps on their IN/OH and Great Lakes Lakemaster map chips.

I wish that the IDNR would have made the Loon Pit map when they did the other two pits down here on Bluegrass F&W area as then maybe the map of Loon pit would have been included on the Lakemaster maps.

I've already paid over 100 for each of two maps that still don't have the biggest pit on BG F&W area.

But I guess the good news is that Lakemaster is coming out with the new AutoChart and AutoChart Pro maps this fall or next spring. Price will be around 250 for the Pro version which can be used with the Lakemaster, Humminbird and IPilot devices. With the AutoChart you can map any lake you want and map your own private and personal maps to use with your Humminbird Depth Finder Combo Unit and then later add more data to the map to improve it's accuracy. I'm trying to learn more about this new product. I did find out that Johnson Controls and Humminbird are hiring more computer programmers etc. to help with this new product.

The only problem that I can see right now is that you may not be able to use the current maps and the AutoChart at the same time if you have another SDHC Card in the Humminbird Unit as there are only two SDHC slots in the Humminbird Units. So how can one take the current map data on Otter Pit or Bluegrass Pit and add additional data to the map using AutoChart if the current map chips are locked?

So I guess one will have to redo the entire lake to make their own accurate map. So I'll have to pay another 25o bucks for the AutoChart and then spend hours and time on doing my own new survey to get a map that I want. Fishing is getting expensive.

Now I realized why I got geared up for trolling. Now I can fish (troll) and do mapping of the lake at the same time.

At least I won't feel like I'm wasting gas while doing the lake survey as I'll be fishing and mapping and killing two birds at the same time.

As I said in a past post, I'm reading a book on Bass fishing by Jason Lucas. In this book Jason explains where all the big bass are and how to find these spots. A good lake map goes a long way in finding these spots quickly.

Oh I also want to add that with the AutoCharts you can use the same cool features that Lakemaster has Patents on. Lake level adjustment. Shallow water highlights and certain depth highlights. Also you can add SI data images over the top of the contour data with the Pro Version. To get an idea what this is like check out the KY Hydrographix web site. Pat Hahs down on KY lake has mapped a lot of this lake and added SI data maps to the contour lines maps that he sells. This may put old Pat out of business when everyone can make their own maps using the Humminbird Units and these AutoChart things. Do a google search for Pat Hahs or Kentucky Hydrografx
