Grass carp

Hey Gang- My buddy has a nice farm pond and it is getting over run with algae and moss ...does anyone know where we can buy some grass carp??

We looked online and only seen places that will come and survey your pond and then you can purchase them .We don't wanna go through all that and simply want to buy about 2 to 3 of the grass carp ?

Grass carp won't do much to get rid of the algae and moss. They mostly eat grass and weeds and will only eat moss if nothing else is available. In Indiana you used to have to have who ever you purchase them from put them directly in your pond. Don't know if that is still the case. Good luck in getting rid of the algae. It's tough to deal with.

for my pond I put in Tilapia every early summer and it takes care of the problems I have. They are far more effective then grass carps you can get them shipped pretty cheap from Ohio Sugar Creek Fishery http://www.sugarcreekfishery.com/Page_9.php also check out POND Boss forum http://forums.pondboss.com/ for a ton of info. on game fish ponds Let us know how it does.
