Getting ready to leave for another 10 day trip. I'm truly blessed in that my life affords me the opportunity to make this trip.

If you ever get a chance, you really need to visit. While this is the middle of summer, I still hope to stick some serious top water smallies. Even taking a few Sammies with me.
I will post details when I get back.

catch some for all of us
Just back from the Boundary Waters.
Man, what a blast.
And a bonus was the 4-5 lbs of fresh blueberries we picked. We must have picked thousands of them. Had blueberry muffins, blueberry pancakes, blueberry cheesecake.......and brought 2 32 oz nalgene bottles filled to the brim back home.
Fishing was about average. We caught and ate smallies this time around because walleye were tough and I simply don't like northern pike.
We caught no monsters this time. Largest was just over 3lbs.
I will post some pics to my website and facebook soon.

Yea baby.
These were all smallmouth bass............We could not manage any walleye or lakers, so smallies had to do.
They tasted dang good........

I made brownies, blueberry cheesecake muffins, cornbread, and apple bread while up there.
I found out years ago that if you make good food, everything else can be bad.
FOOD makes weather and poor fishing seem secondary
The first picture is from our first stop for lunch. This is my daughter. She picked those blueberries in about 10 minutes. We picked bluberries 3 different days, and managed to have about 4 or 5 lbs of them. We even brought back a 32 oz nalgene bottle completely full of them........MM GOOD.

Nothing like 10 lbs of meat on the grill.

some tasty looking food for sure, but I would like to see the northern smallies with scales on them. glade you made some good memories with your Daughter. thats what makes life worth while.
As always it looks like you made some great memories and the food looks amazing! Here I sit wondering what to eat for dinner and the food you made while out fishing makes me want steak and something sweet like cake or pancakes!!![]()
I agree that good food goes a long way toward morale at the camp. In canada we ate smallies for supper every night and had a guy in camp that made a different desert in a dutch oven every night. That was one of the best vacations ive had the luxury of taking. Drinking purified lake water and taking solar showers. Catching a couple hundred smallies up to 5lbs a day didnt hurt anything either
I don't use a dutch oven due to weight on portages, but yea, FOOD makes a trip.I agree that good food goes a long way toward morale at the camp. When I take the kids, I know it is not a "fishing" trip. While we fished, we did a whole lot more. We visited cliffs, hiked waterfalls, picked blueberries, and fished a few times.
Just awesome stuff.....![]()
Thanks Geo for the photos and info on the trip. Great food shots.
