    Ethonol concern

I saw an add on tv last night that our great president and his people are wanting to mandate a thing that requires all gas to contain 15% ethanol in it. This WILL cause big problem in our boat engines, atv, lawn mower, and any other small engine you might have. I have researched this on Mercury and Yamaha postings and they all say the marine engines are not designed to run on that much ethanol. I think it is time that we all start to stand up and call our representatives and demand that all towns have a place to buy non ethanol gas for recreational engines. Maybe to if you know someone that runs a gas station ask them to check on selling non ethanol gas. If this happen we all are going to have some major problems with our boat and other things. Especially if you have an older boat. What are other thought on the issue???

That's their plan. Why should we enjoy the luxury of a boat or the joy of cutting our grass? Spread the wealth and make us all miserable and bourgeois.

The difference is that tetraethyl lead commonly called lead is a neurotoxin that damages the central nervous system, it needed to go.

Adding more ethanol to gasoline will only line the pockets of ethanol producers with more government subsidies and cause mechanical problems and higher food prices for the rest of us.

I agree that it is a money thing. I just hope enough boaters across the country will stand up and hopefully stop this. I can't afford to be repairing my outboard all the time due to this bull.

The point I was making was lawn mowers and a lot of other engines were not designed too run on unleaded fuel so they where phased out. I wasn't getting into the political side of it am not going too open that can of worms. Just like how they have cleaned up all the newer running 2 stroke motors and am sure they are already in the works on designing a out board too run on Flex fuel.

Ethanol gas allows more water to be absorbed into the gas through ambient condensation and will separate out eventually as ethanol and water which ends up in the bottom of your tank causing corrosion thus gumming up your engine. It also reduces lubricity when burned in the upper cylinders, and it destroys any rubber components in the fuel system.
