Mike's Biopsy and Lab Results

Dr. Brunsting came in late Thursday afternoon to give us the results of all my son, Mike's, tests that we had anxiously awaited. He said that he has a very rare, fast growing type of cancer and there was nothing else that could be done that he had SIX MONTHS or so left to live. He told Mike that he was releasing him from the hospital Friday morning to go home and spend his time with the family. The trip home from UAB Hospital, Birmingham almost killed him but he has rested and recovered from it.

How can that be? Mike has had no symptoms and worked every day until he began having chest pains during that night. WHY HIM? This is the hardest thing I have ever had to face in all my life and I still can't sort out my thoughts.

He told me Friday night to keep praying or he would soon be 'done.' God's work is great and is excellent in all ways and supercedes the works of man's hands. I am not going to stop praying because the doctor said the word "cancer." I know people who have beaten it and I believe that Mike will, too.

Please keep praying for him. Thanks a million.

We prayed that God's peace would comfort you and others around Mike who know Him. And we prayed that if there was anyone in this situation who does not yet know Him, that God would use this situation to call them to Himself.

This is one of the best, if not the best, surgeon in the United States and he has taught more than 50 classes on robotic and other surgeries in the USA, and 20 or more classes in other countries. His name is Dr. Louis "Trey" Brunsting III and there is some information about him listed on the internet.

Thank you for sharing this with your Bible Study class. It helps to know that others care when we are struggling with such a desperate problem. Mike awoke really weak and sick this morning. He doesn't want to eat and just has to force food down although he hasn't taken chemo or radiation therapy. He has to mash up one of his pills and stir it into yogurt in order to swallow it.

Everyone in his family is born again Christians except one but he has friends and co-workers that are not saved.
