    Any advice on best marina/lodge?

I'm happy to say that I'm visiting Lake Cumberland in about 2 weeks. Based on some advice here, we hired a guide to take us out and look for striper.

I'm looking for any recommendations on marinas and lodges. I live in Cincinnati and plan to slip my boat annually at Cumberland. I have 2 small kids and am looking for a good setup with a lodge and marina that are close by to one another. Ideally, I would like to find a lodge/hotel with an outdoor swimming pool for the kids.

I think in the next few years, we may buy a condo at Cumberland, but for now I'm just looking to find a marina that either has a kid friendly lodge or hotel near by. I'm sure that in the future I will come down and fish with just my buddies, but other times I will have the wife and kids. If possible, I would like to be closer to 75 but this isn't mandatory.

What is your setup for those of you that have children and don't live or own a house at Cumberland? I'm curious where others keep there boats and where you stay. I have thought about camping or buying a camper and leasing an annual spot, but not so sure the wife would go for this... Thanks for the info!

I have quite a few friends that stay at Jamestown Marina. Hotel Suites that would accommodate adults and kids and cabins. The docks are right there. State Park is across the bay with cabins, hotel rooms and docks and an indoor and outdoor pool plus a real nice place to walk down to a shale beach at the water by Low Gap Island. That beach would put it at the top of the list for me especially with kids. There are some nice cabins in the woods right by there too. I think you have to make reservations pretty far in advance.
Alligator II is pretty neat and they have places to stay near the docks. Just cruise around one day with everybody and take a look at em all. If you are interested in striper fishing, in the summer to a degree it takes place from Jamestown to the Dam. Talk to your guide about that. If you are into fishing and want to sneak out before everybody else wakes up in the morning it may be important to strategically locate your sleeping quarters near boat ramps with quick access to the places you want to fish=more time fishing.

I highly suggest Jamestown Marina. Very nice hotel/lodge, restaraunt on the water, countless slips to rent, turtle feeding area, multiple lane boat ramp, awesome shuttle service, and very kid friendly too. Check out their website at www.jamestown-marina.com.
