October has arrived and it’s been a wild one. Two named storms passed eastern Florida bringing big ground swells, pushing mullet schools south. Waiting for the next batch of bait schools to push through local area in next few weeks.Leading up to storms calm conditions created great tarpon fishing for anglers. Schooling fish seen rolling on surface offered great shots for surface strikes using live baits. Bays and canals holding an abundance of tarpon as well as small bait schools held up in this areas do to higher tides. Linesider action has been excellent around structured areas. Docks, seawalls and bridges great areas to find lurking snook. Current and clean water key to steady action and hooks ups. Snook have been ranging in size from 2 to 10 pounds. As water temperatures cool due to rainwaters and ground swells pulling in offshore water, bigger snook will start migrating into intercostal channels and bays. Big schools of jacks have been crashing baits along sea walls and drop offs. Live baits and Rapala skitter v top water baits best bet for the explosive jacks.
