LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 2.1 FEET, CLEAR, HIGH 70’S
Bass fishing is fair. The fish are holding on rocky banks early and late. A Texas rig with a Zoom finesse worm in June bug, cherry seed, red bug or watermelon colors fished on 6 to 8 pound test line with a 1/8 ounce Spot Sticker on the rocky bluffs is still producing. Fishing a white buzz bait early in the morning right up on the bank is also catching a few. Some spots schooling on the main lake from Harbor Town down to McCaskey Creek and from Allatoona Pass down to Clark Creek. The fish are chasing small thread fin shad. Look for surface activity and pull up and fish the area. Many of these fish are also schooling with the white bass and hybrids. Use a top water lure about the same size as the shad in the school you are following. A Matzuo Spit N Sputter, Heddon Tiny Torpedo, and Rebel Pop R are working well when working the schools of bait. Casting the lure to the outside edge and work your way in to the middle of the school with a fast erratic retrieve works best. Fishing main lake points using a Sammy with a white underbelly has been producing. Follow up with a shad color Rapala Shad Rap # 5 working with a fast erratic retrieve.

Line side fishing is fair. The 40 to 70 fish days we were having last month are long gone. But if you in the right place at sun up a 20 plus fish day can still be possible. Down lining shad off of points, humps and flats 18 to 24 feet deep has been working best for us. The better bite is coming from the dam north to the S turns. White bass fishing is awesome. Big schools of whites are coming up almost every morning and afternoon. The bigger schools are coming up near Harbor Town. There are some good schools coming up in Stamp Creek and in the big bay just south of the S Turns. Tiny flukes and White Rooster Tails are working.
