Spotted bass fishing is good, especially now that the Corps of Engineers has decided to release water. Current will play a big part in the bite over the next several days. The jig and jig head finesse worm bite is really good right now. Fish are stacking up on the backsides of points on the downstream side. Find these areas in conjunction with wind and you hit the jackpot. I am using a big bite Shakey squirrel and a big bite 3.5 inch Yo Mama on a 1/8 or 3/16 ounce jig head. The bite is fairly aggressive, so you should not have a problem feeling the fish hit. If you find Clearwater the Spro mc stick is also working well. The weather is up and down as is the water level so be prepared for anything.

Line side fishing is very good. If the above normal temperatures continue, we expect January to be just as good. The big fish have migrated down out of the rivers and into the main lake. The north end of the lake from Fields Landing to Little River has produce some really nice fish lately. These fish are feeding on big baits. If you are patience and willing to pull big bites you will get bit. Our Lowrance GEN 3 12 inch machine and its technology allows us to scan great distance to see the fish and the bait. Large to jumbo size gizzard shad fished on planner boards and free lines on the north in is your best bet for a monster fish. If you are looking for numbers mid lake is where you want to be this time of year. Small gizzard shad, thread fins and small trout fished on planer boards, free lines and down lines just of the river channel from Kellogg's to Iron Hill has been very good to our boats. If you find the fish stacked up on the flats (Galt’s Kellogg’s) it's hard to beat a 1/2 ounce all white Flex It spoon. These same fish will also eat and umbrella rig. We are using three arm fully loaded umbrella rig and pulling it 80 feet behind the boat. This allows us to fish water that is less than 15 feet deep. This has been working really well mid day. As we enter into the month look for the bait to start moving south. By the end of the month look for the Allatoona Creek arm to start to heat up.
