LAKE OCONEE IS 2.7 LOW, THE LAKE IS CLEAR, LIGHT STAIN UP THE LAKE INTO THE RIVER TEMPRATURE 60’S

Bass fishing is good. Look for docks that still have 3 plus feet of water under them in the mouths of coves and fish them with a shaky head. Spinner baits fished mid creeks out will also produce fish. White and chartreuse have been the best colors. This is the best time to take advantage of the Lowrance Down Scan technology and you can count the fish on the bottom. Small crank baits fished along the side of the docks in the middle of the coves out to the main lake will also produce.

Striper fishing is very good. There are some good hybrids feeding at the dam first thing in the morning. Live bait and spoons will catch these fish. As long as Georgia Power is pumping water in the lake this bite will be good. Some fish are showing up in the river bend area of the lake. Live bait is working best in these location. Use your Lowrance to locate the large schools of bait moving into the back of the coves and creeks. When you find the bait the stripers will be close by. Use live shad to catch these fish.

Crappie fishing is fair. The fish are staging at the mouths of the creeks and coves. Live bait fished on down lines or spider rigged will catch a lot of fish. Long lining jigs over the same fish will also produce good catches.

SONAR TIPS: HOW TO USE TRAILS: Go to the TRAILS menu and name the trail for today’s date. Now pick a color trails for each day of the week. Sunday BLUE, Monday RED, Tuesday YELLOW, Wednesday GREEN, Thursday OD GREEN, Friday PURPLE, Saturday PINK. Keep the trails you need on and SD card. Delete the trails you do not need. Keep the “POINTS” under 5,000 for any trails.
