No "grandfather of the year" award for me.
Last weekend my son and I took his 4 year old nephew( and my grandson)on his first boat ride and fishing trip. Launched on T-ville, worms in hand and his super Heroes life jacket buckled up tight. 30 min into the trip we are kind of easing along with the trolling motor on two. As my grandson crawls up beside my front chair, the trolling motor hits an unseen submerged stump and he just sort of somersaults overboard. That's right- a half hour into his first fishing trip, I somehow let my grandson go head first into the water.. WE had him back into the boat in less than 5 seconds, but he was soaked. He never cried and never dropped his worms. He later caught his first fish and his comment when we pulled out was "Next time let's go to Beaver Lake". Sounds good to me!
