Where's the Pride?
Do you remember growing up as a boy trying to be a man and competing seemingly for everything? You couldn't stand to let the other guy win, you had to try and lift more, run faster, jump higher make your Mom and Dad proud. When you started working you had to out work the guy beside you or flippin die trying sometimes to the point of being dangerous and had your boss tell you to settle down that loved the crazy hard work but you might hurt yourself or somebody around you.
Did you do that were you like me in that respect, I bet I can name almost all of you on here that did and feel it was most of you. Where has that gone, what happened. My Dad was an ole salt Navy SeaBee from WWII and I spent a good portion of my life trying to prove to him I was tough and could cut the mustard. He didn't give out many flowers as I was the youngest of four and Mom kinda babied me at times at least in his eyes. Therefore he took it upon himself to push me at times till I almost hated him as teenager and we fought like Cats and Dogs. Later in life he told me how proud of me he was and it dawned on me one day exactly what he was trying to do. Life is frickin tough, not everybody gets a lolly pop and a big hug all the time. I hire guys now that are in their 20's and 30's and it just blows my mind how soft they are. As a 50 year old man I should not be able to make them look bad, real bad working but guess what.
We have a primarily Latino based work force in this shop now because quite frankly the American guys are pu ssies and can't do it. Is it hard work, Yes but it's not that dang hard. I rant or maybe vent about this because I can't believe how soft as a nation we have become and to thank my Dad he had a plan and it was a good one...
Also I am not trying to sound like some tough guy, not my intent at all, it just saddens me to see full grown men that are as soft as children just makes me skake my head and wonder what the heck happened.....
Thanks Dad.....

Guess its our fault
I didn't want my kids to have the same life I had! But as I look back, my lifre was pretty darn good. My father was a polish immigrant. he disappeared in 1940, they think he went back to Poland to fight, we never knew.My mom was a depression child, never had much. We didn't have little league, or pop warner, but every kid in our niehborhood played all the sports. There were no trophys for second place, mostly nothing but the fun. We didn't have "no child left behind". Us polloks and hunkeys were fodder for the steel mills, or refinerys.f you were a young man you registered for the draft, the odds were great you'd be drafted. And when you got married it was for life! the mother stayed home and raised the kids. My children were expected to go to college. we paid for their education in catholic school. If I wanted a toy, I either worked over time or got another job to get it[and I had a lot of toys}.But something happened to our country,It left a lot of us behind, it took a lot of opurtunity away from our children. I have my own ideas on what happened. We started honoring schemers and shysters, and snake oil salesmen.
