Net neutrality was struck down in court.
i don't like the examples the author uses near the top of the article. Too close to home. Hopefully this author is clueless.
Click on some of the website examples he uses.
Who controls the Internet really?
Control over what's posted on the net will continue to be a fight IMHO. Governments will try to suppress information that they don't like and put up their own information.
We will be monitored and controlled. That you can count out. Freedom of the press is for those with money to control the press and not for the rest of use IMHO.
I just tried to talk about targeted advertising but none of the text other than the heading is showing up when I click on those two new threads. What is up with that?
I said that an ad appeared at the top of my page when I was visiting fishin.com today and it appears that some how the advertizers was using cookies on my computer to target an ad to what I 've been looking at on the net the last few days.
I've been looking at buying a EOTech Holographic sight and after going on the web the last few days and visiting various sites that sell this device I found it funny that today when I opened up Fishin.com that the ad at the top of the page was for the very item I've been looking at on the web for the last few days.
Also when I got to my facebook page the ads there are targeted at stuff that must be in my cookies on my computer.
I wonder if this text will show up now? I guess this text is showing up ok. Maybe it's a problem with my computer not working right. I have a wireless link between my home computer and my router and sometimes it stops working. Maybe when I was posting those new threads in the off topics forum they didn't get though for some reason. But I found that strange. I was wondering if the topic was too controversial and was being blocked or something? Or did my computer just malfunction at the most inopportune time?
I hope that the FCC appeals that ruling
I hope that the federal appeals court or the USSC reverse this decision. The internet should be open to all and not bought and sold by the money people. But if I had to bet who will win this I would be smart to be on the People with all the money. They can buy what they want almost every time.
I'm not sure why I can't see the text that I posted just on those two threads that I started. I do know that when I tried to hit the send button my computer stopped working for a while and I had to use the back button to get going again. But that's happened before. I'm pretty sure its got something to do with m wireless transmitter. It's a USB thing that plugs into one of my desktops USB ports. I've been seeing that the contect on some web sites doesn't load all the way. I get parts of the page to load on my computer but not all. I may have a virus but it's not being picked up by the virus protection software. Must have gotten on my computer via a web site as I don't open email attachments. But these days you can pick up malware by just logging onto some web sites. I don't think I got it from fishin.com by any means. But there are some web sites that my virus protection doesn't like much.
I ran the Microsoft Defender or something and it said my computer was clean. So does my virus scanning software. But there are some viruses that can turn off the virus checking software and still attack a computer.
You never know what's really going on with these computers unless you know the program language and have the time to check everything out thoroughly.
I would hate to see sites like CNN get priority over Fishin.com and the other web sites that I go to. They should keep things like they are and route the traffic fairly on a first come first serve basis.
I can't see where the post would not show up because of the content of the post. That would have to be controlled by me and I haven't even seen the post. Unless this thing is already gotten out of control.
Those Google ads are targeted and you will see advertising for items and services you have expressed interest in, which is the case throughout the net. The ads can also be pretty much random.
Yeah, governments have always wanted to control the press. The Internet has become the press.
I just wonder how the mega sites like Google, Facebook and the others that have in the past relied on an abundance of information play into this. The content providers like CNN and ESPN with a bunch of money can pay the cable companies their fees. The individual mom-and-pop bloggers and so forth won't want to pay and thereby competition can be eliminated through cost of entry.
I haven't really read much about this but plan on it. The elimination of neutrality has been in the works for quite a long time. It just took one federal judge to put the whammy to it.
