Was just wondering when is the best time of the year to fish stripes in the river. A couple of buddies and I are thinking of doing a guided trip. Any opinion is appreciated and maybe a recommendation of a good river guide. Thanks in advance.

I would give chuck strange a call. His bait shop is close to the cumberland river ramp at Burksville.
His number is on his report at

If you don't mind post the information that he gives you. I would like to know also. Thanks
Mid April - mid June if you want a state record. Flow is unpredictable then which makes planning a guide trip far in advance difficult. Bite gets tough in high water. Anytime in the summer is good for action. Our average fish is mid 20's so still a great time. River fishing is nothing like lake fishing. It will ruin you!
