Tackle town used to actually have Tackle. I went today. There were less than 20-30 vendors, and the rest was BULL SHEITE crap no associated with fishing, or useless garbage.
I will not be going back.........

Years ago I would travel to go see shows but not anymore. We used to do the Indy show and Lville show but they were going down hill and it wasn't worth the drive anymore.
As a matter of fact I attended our Lexington boat show for the first time in many years and it was pretty good. Backwaters had a nice setup with several other local tackle reps there. Plenty of bassboats to look at for me as well.
Now I'm glad I didn't go. My buddy that lives in the Knobs was begging me to go with him and I declined, he went on and on about the tackle. Now I'm glad I didn't go.
Man I hate to hear that. It was always the best show I had been to. I hear a lot of good things about the Nashville show at the Fairgrounds. Had a friend down there doing seminars and my cousin had a booth set up for his guide service and both talked about how good it was. Going to try and get down there next year.

Yea, I've not missed it in about 15 years or so. To be fair, they are doing construction work on the horse ring, which is where the outfitters used to be. The past two years they have taken room from tackle town and the silent sports area to put outfitters.
Maybe after they get the work done, more vendors will show up.
I will tell you this though, I used to spend a crap ton of JACK on stuff at the show. I mean a CRAP TON. I used to drop about 300-400 bucks there on stuff I needed. Bulk Tubes, Bulk jigheads, Bulk tubejig heads, bulk shakey heads, bulk line.
I did get a pretty good deal on a Cumara Red, which made it not completely a bust, and I also went up to Castleton to the REI store. So all in all a good trip, but the show was way, way down.

I too used to attend the Indy show. It was more of an excuse to get out of the house and meet up with my fishing buddies for a day at the show then spend the night with the guys, sipping Woodford Reserve and telling lies. Oh, we always bought a crave case of White Castles for the drive back to Flatrock where we spent the night. The emanations from eaten sliders alongside a wood stove can be dangerous!
The $5.00 booths were my downfall. $5.00 beers,$5.00 Italian sausages.
Now a days I just wait for Bass Pro's spring sale and stock up then.
