Headed to Green on the 28th for a tournament on that weekend. Does anyone know about the water levels and temps? We still have ice up here in Cincy and the river is a mess. I've got the bug bad but no where to go around here.

No ice here. Last week the water temps were low 40s and the main lake was muddy. Id say this trend of warm weather will push the temps up around 50 and some color in the water at those temps isnt a bad thing. Is your tourny on a friday?
Thanks for the info!! No the tournament is on Saturday and Sunday we were going to prefish a little before the tourney. We had our first tourney there last year it was cold and windy didn't do all that well I'll try to make up for it this year.
Our USA Bassin tourney is that saturday out of Ramp 1. Will we be sharing the ramp?
I hope Fishin is right about the water temps. I'd take 50 degree water temps in a heartbeat after the late winter cold we've had.

Here's a link that should help with GRL ramp usage. http://app.fw.ky.gov/fisheries/fishingtournaments.aspx?wid=77&asid=*&month=*
Lake temps were in the upper 30's and lower 40's over the weekend. Probably fell off due to runoff from ice and snow melt. With ample sun and air temps in the 60's and 70's today and tomorrow along with the predicted warm rains on Wednesday the lake temps should rebound quickly. With that said, the bite should be heating up by the 28th.
Talked to a few people who fished this weekend. Most saw temps 45-47, but id say the base water temp is still closer to 40. Waters so muddy you could track a coon on it and from what they all said the fishing wasnt good at all. One boat never took a bite and the other took 1 bite, a 4lber. Gonna have to get the base water temp up and have it clear a little for the fishing to really turn on. Theyve been pulling the bottom out of it and should have gotten it back to winter pool today, thatll help it clear a little if we dont get too much rain with the cold front coming in. If the long term forecast holds true we could see water temps of 50 by the 28th
Hopefully your right about Wednesday's rain warming the warter. I hope the weather man is wrong...you stand just as good of a chance as predicting the weather as they do. Per: the weather forecast Wednesday at 9 AM it is suppose to be 51* and raining. By 4 PM it is suppose to drop to 41* with continuing rain. Plus they are giving a 15mph wind. That does not sound good for the water temperature. The overnight low is suppose to be 22* then on Thursday a high of 41* and a low of 22*
What little we gained in temperature Monday and Tuesday will be lost when the cold rain and wind hits on Wednesday. Plus the the cold on Thursday. The 28th is a long ways off...the water could be in the low 40's or mid 50's who know what mother nature will throw at us.
I already had my tournament scheduled on the Kentuck fish and Wildlife site. The reason I was asking was that there is no other tournament on that schedule for Green River Lake on the 29th.
If they are going out of Ramp 1, like our USA Bassin tournament is, I will have to keep that in mind as I get my anglers registered and checked in. I prefer to know before hand when we will have multiple tournaments registering anglers amd getting set up at the same time.

Clintcone we will be going out on that one if it's the one near the dam ramp. But the tournament will not start until 11:00 and go to 7:00. Sunday is 8:00 till 4:00. So there shouldn't be any problems. it's a small club tourney about 7 boats. I'm just hoping the conditions are going to be better than last year.
Was out there this afternoon for about an hour and a half. Water is still very very very muddy and temps were consistent 46-47. Cant say anything good about the fishing either
Interesting... We won't be in each other's way at all then... We're going from safe light to 2 PM.
You might be able to get a mid-day update from our anglers as they come in for weigh in if you're struggling, but most of us are pretty tight lipped about our fishing :)

Thanks Clint. We always start late on away tourneys because not all of us stay over night and drive there in the morning. And there is usually 7 or 8 boats. Our local tourneys have 10 to 12 boats. In the fall we will be at Nolin lake for the classic.
