We're looking at getting a new transom saver for a 150 hp Yamaha V max. What's the best type for that engine and why? Thanks.

I would look into the motor mate / swivel ease style, I switched on my merc and love how simple it is. NO more bungee cords to mess with and really locks the motor down.
I just put a Motor Mate on my 150 Yamaha Vmax and love it! The motor doesnt move. Easy to install

I also went with a motormate on a 200 Optimax Merc, simple to use but starting to wonder about the fact it takes no weight or load off the Transom, any one else have this thought?
My fishing partner has a motormate and I have to agree with the rest of the guys, it is much easier to deal with.

I thought the same thing...but talking to people they seem to think its not so much the weight as the bouncing of that weight. This is why I went went from the old transom saver to the motormate....with the motor mate it doesnt move at all!

I watched the videos and it seems easy enough to install and effective in it's function. I really like the fact that it's made from stainless and easily stored too. The biggest concern I have is the durability of the internal springs. From what everyone is saying it appears to be best overall option and it doesn't cost much more than other less effective/convenient devices that are on the market.
Thanks all, I appreciate everyone's input.
I think you all will be glad you got it. It's one less thing to misplace :D
Here is the one I use, it's about like the motormate. It's a SwivlEze.
