Heading to GR Lake for 1st time this Sunday. Holmes Bend was recommended as an area to start for bass. Any info re: water temp and clarity? Any tips on using jerk baits, other baits?
Any suggestions would be appreciated

I was out tuesday and the water temps were 46-47. Water was chocolate with maybe 6" of visibility. Didnt boat a fish in the hour and a half i was there. Jerkbaits might not be the best choice with no visibility at all. Heard it took 3 lbs to win a tourny sunday and 17lbs to win another, so there are fish to be caught. Id run towards the river until i found clearer water. With the water temps warming its just a matter of time before the main lake fish turn on, but when is anybodys guess
I'd say if the water is cold and muddy. jigs and plastics worked on drop offs slow. Colorado blade spinner bait or a rattle trap would also be a good bet.
Thanks to the folks who offered me tips

Did you brave the weather...cold and 20 mph wind gust and light rain.
Picked up my new Tracker boat on Saturday at noon and went to herrington to do a couple of hours of engine break-in. Did not make it to Green River Lake today due to the weather. Will try again next weekend if weather permits.
water was 49 degrees when I put it at 10 but warmed to 52ish by mid afternoon on sunny banks. Not even a bite throwing jigs. Started throwing tube bait in late afternoon and got one 10 inch bass. Had 3-4 good fish take tube bait and made a run with it but when I tried to set the hook they spit it out.
There were a lot of boats on the lake many appeared to be crappie fishing.
It was overall a good trip and I do plan to go back again.
