Anchoring
I was wondering is any one use a anchor when bass fishing. I got a 18 foot nitro and not a very high power trolling motor. I fish areas like lake Barkley and I find spots out deep that I can't fish cause the wind is so bad. Also is fish a lot of point on rough and nolin. I don't have a lot of money to buy a power pole. Just seeing what you all thought. Also what anchor should I get. Thanks

It's pretty hard to get an anchor to hook up exactly like you want it to most times and impossible others. Have you considered an Ipilot for your trolling motor. I have one on my boat (23' skiff) and the anchor feature works really well in wind up to 20mph as long as your batteries hold out. Wind socks also work well if you drift fish much, just get the biggest one you can afford, or two is even better.

If it is a mud bottom a danforth would work well and they are very light and inexpensive. You have to let out some line so there's enough angle for the two points dig into the bottom. Once the anchors set you can shorten the line a bit. Your boat will blow back-and-forth in an arc a little bit.
If you want to something that may hold straight down that's very inexpensive and you don't mind using it, a concrete block could work well. I used to use one in the current below McAlpin Dam all the time. It's a heave ho to get it up, I think there about 20 pounds. Good thing is if you lose it doesn't matter.
