I've never done it on the professional level, but I've worked on quite a few. Just a few weeks ago, I replaced a steering cable on my MotorGuide 109. Shoot me a PM - I might be able to help you out.
If you decide to do it yourself and need parts I have had good results buying from fish307.com. Good luck.

The only one that I know of, that is licensed, is Dave Smoot of Central KY Trolling Motors. He is great!!

Wilson tackle shop here in Brandenburg
I went to Rods and live in Alexandria, KY. He's the closest one around. He has worked on two trolling motors for me, always done a good job, and charged a fair price. I would go back again.
I had to have mine worked on a few years back and all I did was go to their web site and search for a dealer. I called one of them and asked if they worked on them as well and they said they did. Can't remember the name but it was pretty easy. Good luck.

Rod is unfortunately not with us anymore. He passed away a few months ago. I have heard that someone in his family took over the business, but I have no idea what their qualifications are. If and when I hear any reports on the new owner's work, I will post them.

Second that!
First, thanks to all that offered help - I really appreciate it! It always worked, just cut off randomly so I cleaned up and crimped down the "hot wire" in hopes the connection problems would go away. Went out last night - no luck. I too just learned Rod is no longer with us (RIP) but a woman named Laura took over the biz. I have no idea if she's capable so if someone could give a solid referral one way or another I'd appreciate it. Can't live without my spotlock!
I'd post a pic but too much of a pain on this site. The red wire under the head unit got so hot it melted into the housing! Think it happened when I forgot to unplug before charging the batteries one night. Plug actually fused into the receptical. Replaced plug and receptical but still having issues. Have a fuse next to batteries but didn't help that situation.
There might be enough wire left to "cut out the bad and replace with the good" otherwise I need to replace the entire wire or get a new TM. Circuit board still good sense this happened before I put ipilot on terrova.
