Fishing Rankins Bottom
Is it still OK to walk back into the field and fish Rankins bottom? I used to do it as a teenager for whites and cats just wondering if there was still a way back legally. Last time I went 10 or so years ago a shady drunk guy ran me off with a police scanner blaring in the old white house at the end of the road. im 100% sure he was hiding out from something

Rankins bottoms
Hi,
Looks like it is still a Voluntary Public Access site;Where the landowner gets paid to let public fish there.See this page on ky fish & wildlife website: https://app.fw.ky.gov/fisheries/accesssitedetail.aspx?asid=1006
Good Luck,

Yep, they only ask that you do not block the road. One of my favorite "I have a free hour in the evening" spots to fish.

I have only fished there in early march/april for the white bass run. Are there other species to be caught there other times of the year?

Big catfish in the river or there used to be and tons of buffalo. I have caught a few smallies with minnows but never fished for them as I was white bass fishing. I watched a guy catch a nice largemouth there and a hybrid white bass fishing. Only thing about catfishing is there is a lot of big craws that will strip your bait quick!!
