My neighbor took this photo of this bug. Looks like it is wearing a doggie like vest. About an inch and three quaters long. They stepped on it and their foot swelled up a bit.

I believe it's called a saddleback moth caterpilla...Kind of nasty sting. Chuck

Its a pack saddle, they also have green in them, beware of ornamental shrubs,
