No, I think I will first grab for a Glock 19, or maybe a Mossberg 500 Flex Home Defense Shotgun .....

I'm amazed by the ignorant buffoonery that exists by these folks on NBC. They should also know that spraying a neurotoxin on ANYONE is a federal crime, and that most wasp sprays are counter indicated for inside use.

When said home intruder murders your sorry ass, and has his way with your wife and KIDS, I sure hope you were thinking about why you bought a case of wasp spray instead of a GLOCK.

I have carried wasp spray for a couple of years, used it once. I used to carry a S/W 38 in the truck.Never used it. I never got hasseled with the spray. I used the spray against a stray dog that attacked me and my mutt. I'm all for gun owner ship. And I mean everyone. Home defense, a 20 ga pump is hard to beat.

I always wanted to get a 20 gauge for home defense but I haven't yet. I don't want a pump anymore....I would rTher have a semiautomatic like a Mossberg that hold 7-8 shells and if it needs to be a 12gauge so be it.

For now it's a Glock 23 with 15 rounds and a flashlight/laser mounted on the rail.

A big headed dog with a deep bark is good too...... Maxx looks like he may eat your lunch but he is a teddy bear. I hope I never have to use a gun for self defense in my home....I have a ball bat and golf club pretty handy at the front door as well. They are there because I store my clubs downstairs and the bat is just there to pick up once in awhile and swing....it just feels sooooo good to swing a bat.

I've got a savage tactical 12 gauge that I believe holds 5 shells. Absolutely love it. It's very intimidating! Along with that gun I've got a safe full of goodies to choose from. I've never had to use them for personnel defense but I won't lie if I was home when that sorry s.o.b broke in my place I wouldn't of thought twice. I'll do whatever it takes to protect what's mine... Just saying

You can get mag extensions for shotguns. My Remington 870 pump (12 gauge) holds 8 rounds. Low recoil buckshot makes it easier to handle (the wife can shoot it) and does not penetrate walls as well as full rounds. Pump action cause there are less parts to fail when you really need it.

I think there are a whole bunch of legal issues with mag extensions for shot guns.......but YEA, that would be THE DEAL :)

I always thought I wanted a pump but I'm not a pump shotgun guy. If it's second nature to a person it's fine but I realized when we went dove hunting that I was not very good at it. I lost chances on birds because I just pulled the trigger thinking it would fire again like my Semi-auto or side by sides. I cannot imagine during stressful times how things would go so I have to keep it simple.

Now as far as a pistol goes I think a revolver is easier to deal with since if you have a misfire all you do is pull the trigger again and again. A semi-auto pistol may hold 17 rounds but the thing to remember is if you have a misfire you have to rack that slide to chamber a new round and if you have Cheap magazine, cheap rounds or even a limp wrist while shooting you could end up with stove pipes or failure to ejects.

That being said....I still use the Glock as my bed side protection but a revolver stays hidden downstairs .

If youcant get it in two shots, you're just making noise afterwards. I had a browning 16 when I could afford one, and it was always three shots. Later it was a remington mag pump. My son in law bought his wife a 12 gauge 18 inch barrel pump, only for home protection.

Glock 22 for me. I would like to have a shot gun ready but a little too hard with the kids. I like either pump or semi auto as far as shotguns go.

As far as I know there are no restrictions on shotguns manufactured in the US. If you import one, then the mag capacity might be limited (depends on the state). If I were to go hunting with it, I would have to either remove the extension or put a plug in so I could not load more shells that legal for that type of hunting.

Don, I agree, keep it simple. Double so for something that may have to be used under an extremely stressful situation. I've used the pump enough (20+ years) that it is second nature. Easy to load too. Shooting wise, no issues staying on the silhouette target, firing, racking another round, and hitting where I want. Best to try a few things out and stick with what feels right. Same thing with handguns. I tried out a bunch before I picked up my first Glock.

Mossberg 535 12 gauge with a 3 and half inch magnum turkey round. A restoration company will be needed for drywall and maybe even some stud damage but perp is leaving in two pieces, top half and bottom half.....Or maybe headless depends on the situation....:)
