I guess I am like you, I loved to fish that old lake, so this week I went to the Stanford Mayor and made a phone call to the Stanford Water department asking the same question. We can thank the folks who thought that was the alternate dumping grounds for Lincoln County. We can think the dope heads who thought that is was a place to do DOPE, and also to the fools who parked there vehicle across a ditch and changed there oil and letting the oil run in to the ditch witch could have gotten to the water supply.
I was told the gate was put up to keep vehicles out but you could walk in, so know we can think the people who could not police up after there self's, so now they don't even want you to walk into it. I talked to them about doing like Liberty does, charge a membership fee for fishing it, and was told for now its just going to be off limits. I understand why this had to happen, I just hate what other people have taken away something from me once again.
Maybe in the future we might get that old lake back.

Put many old hogs in the boat there. Saw some of the biggest bass in the state on beds there.

It sounds like someone or a select few has just created their own private honey hole.

If your talkin about the lake in McKinney. always been off limits. If your Talkin about Buck Creek nope just the ol mud ramp, I expect it to be closed soon for the same reasons as the Stanford Lake. I was told that water from Buck Creek dumps into the Mc Kinney lake. Buck Creek has givin up some good fish also.

I would pay the 25 Bucks for a yearly pass to get back into it.

I'm not sure of the name, if you stay on #698 and go over the hill and down the other side and then turn right on Martins Trail road then about a mile on the right.

Very well may be the case. I was only there twice, once when the outflow pipe was being built then again when it was only half way full. Was told they built this one to keep the the main reservoir full so I assume there is a connector line somewhere.

I would too if it cut down on all the riffraff that hung around the parking lot.
