Falls of Ohio catfish
I've been fishing at the falls these past few weeks. I have located a few deeps holes and have been kinda learning my way around down there. Anyone have any info on catfishing and any good spots or info on water depth down there. Also I'm bank fishing so keep this in mind. Thanks for any help.

The first hole from the upper dam is approx. 23ft deep at summer pool and would be the first spot I would try. It's located on the shelf in front of the museum. Cats will also be up in the faster moving water closer to the dam but snagging up is the issue up there. The rock point is another good spot there is a 40ft hole right out in front of you but if you don't wade out a little to the ledge( be very careful) a flathead will destroy your whole spool of line by pullig you straight down over the ledge and then if it's any size will break you off. The mud bank can be descent if the water levels are right but like I said it's all about the water levels. We have a slight rise coming and that will affect everything. Being at the right place at the right time is key. It's taken me 40+ years of fishing the area and lot's a skunks to put together a good idea of were they MIGHT be. Time on the water= the best advice. I started a journal years ago and kept track of when, where, how ect.... Then you can look back and come up with a good guess. Good luck. Chuck

Ok thanks. We did real good Monday night. We fished down where the fossil beds end around the bend and caught eight flatheads between 5 and 15 lbs. all on cut skipjack. They are in pre spawn and coming into them shallows to feed at dark. Should be good fishibg next few weeks Untill full spawn. For cats anyways. Going to be down there Friday night again. Hopefully the bite is on!! Yea I'm learning a few things each time I go. I think the water been around 14 foot. Anything over 17 or 20 and I think it might be a lil difficult. But thanks for the info.
