It may be time for Tyme
I'm wondering if it's coming sooner than I thought to sell my boat and 90% of my fishing gear.:(
I've got the first follow up appointment with the surgeon this afternoon and the second surgery is already planned for December 7th. As of now, I know I can't even climb into my boat without discomfort and some concern. However, it's only been 15 days since surgery. I guess I was expecting a miracle fast recovery and should let these gloomy thoughts pass over.
I knew the day would arrive, but I'm not ready to admit defeat just yet. What my mind wants to do and what my body will allow are two different things right now. Hopefully, I'll recover more over the winter and be ready, willing, and able for a Barkley and or Wisconsin trip in the spring of 2016.

Gotta give your body time to heal, and as we age it takes longer. Hang in there!

know the feeling
My second year with out a boat. I knew I was through when my legs gave out while getting my boat on the trailer several yrs ago, fell out and couldn't get up for few minutes. I didn't even wet a line this year, even though i go to the lake almost every day to walk my dog. I have rarely lived more than an hour from a good fishing spot. I didn't sell all my tackle, but all its doing now is just gathering dust.I'm down to doing what I can, not what I wan't, and the pains of arthritis at times make me wonder what the heck am i doing hefe anyway. I know the answer. PENANCE.

I would think 15 days after surgery you would have pain and discomfort. don't give up the ship yet, you will know more by March I would think. It also will give you a goal to make you work hard in rehab

You'll be fine you old fart. You aren't selling squat you are going to get well and get strong again and have plenty of fishing yet to do. Quit that crazy talk or I'm coming over there and it won't be pretty.....;)

Yeah, I've got all winter to get better but also have two more surgeries planned. Vascular surgeon keeps finding things amiss with my internal plumbing. If I recover from those as quickly as I'm recovering from the first one, I'll be fine before spring.
I might have to talk Knute(The Heathen) into launching his pontoon, the "Queen Mary" and crawl or drag my butt on board!!
