It is true, but its been a month now and I'd say everything is gone. The latest and greatest rumor is that Backwater Tackle out of Lexington is taking it over, but that's not confirmed. Nice little lake out there, after the shad were added 5 and 6 pounders are commonly caught.
Where is this magical lake? I'm in oldham county.

Facebook post yesterday said there was an absolute auction this Saturday or next on everything.
When I last fished there in the summer, the city took over the place. Closed the marina due to needing upgrades and closed off access to the slips and everything. All you could do was put in at the ramp or fish the pedestrian dock. Will they ever open again? Rent pontoons and slips for boaters?

I haven't heard anything about it in a while. One rumor I had heard was whoever was interested in taking over wanted some restrooms and stuff put in and the county wouldn't go for it. I don't know if there is any truth to that but it's what I had heard. I do know for a fact that the lease for it is only for a couple years and it's pretty pricey. I would think it would be hard to get someone to take it over and inverst time and money when you possibly could lose the lease after your time is up. I want to say it's about $400 or $500 a month to lease it. That's a lot of money for something that is mainly seasonal for rentals and such. Not to mention the cost of stocking rental boats and tackle in the shop.
That's too bad. Local fishing is taking a hit and closing places like this won't bode well for the states efforts to promote more fishing. Beaver lake in Anderson county closed there marina and dock a few years ago too. I guess the price of fishing licenses are bound to go up next. Then no one will be going fishing.
