KDFWR Fish Stockings map
I found this map browsing the KY Dept of fish and wildlife webpage and it showing some neat things around Lexington. Wilgreen lake was stocked with 16,000+ Saugeye! Right below boonesboro dam they stock hybrids and saugeyes. I would love to catch something new like a hybrid or saugeye close to Lexington. Unfortunately this map doesn't give any information. How would I find out when these fish were stocked and if they were catchable size fish?

Robert, I doubt any "stocking" fish would be keeper size, unless they were stocked in a FINs lake.
I know they stock Taylorsville with Saugeye, because I've caught one there. (not legal keeper size, though)
Whenever I have a question about anything the KDFWR does and can't find any info on the web ... I email them - - and usually get a reply within 24hrs.

good stuff crappiepappie. it looks like you are correct, they are stocking the fisheries, but it will be a couple of years before they pick up

This is good to know. What type of bait were you using?

We were using road runners tipped with a minnow-style trailer. It's a lead head with a small blade attached on the bottom side. You can get them just about anywhere & in a variety of colors and sizes. I like the 1/16 and 1/8 oz. Any plastic minner/tube you'd use to catch crappie tip to the hook. Natural colors worked the best.
