RE: monroe ramp help
Steve,
You can get direct information by calling the Paynetown SRA office (812) 837-9546. The ramp at Paynetown can handle high water levels.
You can check water levels by linking to;

It currently is 9ft above summer pool.
There is a ramp at the dam. Access is from Indiana 37.

RE: monroe ramp help
Paynetown is a fairly shallow ramp. If your boat is very large you will have to do some wading, but it is launchable. Cutright is under water. Don't know about Moores Creek. Hardin Ridge would be a good one and so would the ramp at the dam; both are pretty steep and would not be too impressed by high water.

RE: monroe ramp help
Have to agree about Paynetown. Tried to put my boat in there last week and couldn't manage it. Went over to the high-water ramp at Cutright (not the regular Cutright ramp) and had no problem.

RE: monroe ramp help
I was at Monroe last Saturday and launched at Moore's creek without much trouble. When the water is high the ramp at the Dam, Moore's creek, and the new ramp at Four Winds (Fairfax State Park) are good choices and also good choices if your coming from State Road 37. Also if you launch at the dam or Moore's creek you won't have to pay a park entrance fee. If you launch at Paynetown, Hardin Ridge, or Four Winds you will have to pay a park entrance fee. One other note, as of last weekend the DNR had yet to install the docks next to the boatramps for temporary boat parking. I launched by myself therefore I had to drive my boat into the muddy bank and hop out to go park my truck. Hope this helps.

RE: monroe ramp help
If you are fishing for wipers, go to Sugar Creek and throw anything shiney. I was in there last Friday trying to bass fish and couldn't get away from them. I caught around 10 and lost just as many. They were all in the 7-10 pound range. I caught most of them on a lucky craft pointer, but the way they were acting, they would have hit anything. As far as where to put in, the dam ramp, the new ramp at Fairfax, or Hardin Ridge would be your best bets for the lower end of the lake.
