need suggestion on replacing an engine
i am going to repower my skeeter bass boat.the 115 hp on it now is just wore out and i would like to have more power.the rating on this boat is 140 hp. not many mfg. are making a 140 hp anymore.any information or suggestions on the 130,135,and 140 hp would be greatly appreciated.i want to stay away from the four strokes if i can.they are a heavier engine. this boat would handle a 150 hp but i cant find anyone who will install one because of the horsepower rating.if you know anyone that will let me know the dealers name. thanks for your help

LAST EDITED ON Jul-20-06 AT 01:26AM (EST)[p]you should see if you can find a merc 135 v6.it's the same block as the 150 and many will run comparable speed to the 150..
on the other hand find a 150 yamma and hang it yourself all your controls will match up and only takes about 2 hours if you take your time.i just did a yamma to merc switch in about 3 hours.if you fish any big tourneys you most time can't go over the rating next thing is your insurance

check with M&C Outboards in Shepherdsville,,I think I saw what ya needed on there motor boat. Plus if ya want one new they`ll give ya a good price. I`ll put any motor you want on that boat.
