RE: Need info on fishfinder
Basically you are in a self preference situation. It will come down to what appeals to you, that is in your price range and will mount up and do what you want it to. Fish finders can lead you into the Ford vs. Chevy vs. Dodge type arguement if you let it. I have two finders on my boat that are factoy and one I added myself. Three different brands, all work fine. Find the one you like and understand, that meets your needs, ands there you go.
Good Luck!
RE: Need info on fishfinder
I have a Humminbird Matrix 17 which I think retails in the mid $200's. If is very detailed, good sized screen, very sensitive, and it has ports where you can add features such as plug in your hand held GPS, use a Humminbird GPS, hook it up to your computer, and a few others. I have mounted this one on my dash.
On the front I have a bottom of the line Lowrance which I am also pleased with.
I personally do like Eagle fishfinders even though there are a lot of Eagle fans on the board here.
I suggest going to Bass Pro or another outdoor shop and picking out a few that you like and have then ask the salesperson for some more info.
I just need a tutorial on how to read and use the darn thing. But for now it serves the basic purpose of the water temp and depth.
