Humminbird 987
Is anyone on the board rich enough to have the new Humminbird 987 fish finder with sidefinder? I've been seeing some pics on another board, and this unit is the best sonar for consumers I've ever seen. The screens look like they came from the equipment the U.S. Navy and other underwater salvage operations use. VERY impressive. Detail of fish and structure like you've never seen. Retail cost is a tad shy of 2 grand, so it's still well out of my range, but if the price ever comes down the 987 will dominate the finder market.

RE: Humminbird 987
I've looked at it over at bass pro, pretty cool, I'd love to have one, but I just can't justify puttng a $2000.00 graph on a boat I paid $1000.00 for (WIthout the motor) Plus my wife would blow a gasket!

RE: Humminbird 987
The bassproshops pics are pretty weak. (The one of the sunken dam is pretty cool.) There's another bass fishing site where people have been posting some actual photos from their units, and they are really impressive. Like y'all I would love to have one, but I just can't justify that kind of dinero on an already expensive habit.

Worth every penny.
Devils Horse,
I have one and I am very very pleased. To be honest, I think they could actually charge more and still sell. I can drive by a crappie condo, 5 gal bucket w/pvc sticking out of it, 150ft away and see it, no problem. I was down at barkley two weeks ago and went over a trotline and could actually see the drops off the main line in 23 ft of water???? I have about 20 hours use on mine, the more you use it the better you are able to judge distance. Ask any questions I will try and answer.

I'm jealous. You should donate that unit to the DH poor fund man, I need all the help finding fish I can get.

DH,
Do you want to go on a boat ride? I'm in Bowling Green. I am planning on doing some more "fish scouting" in the next couple of weeks.

RE: Worth every penny.
Hey Chris, I live in Bowling Green too, and I bet Barren's well above winter pool with the rain we've had. There's a place or 2 over there I'd love to see on that sonar. Heck it'd be pretty fun just to cruise some channels and check out the ledges. That thing could be used to work the river and find the hybrids also. This weekend I'm going to try the FnF with Elnut over at Ky if I can get away, but I'd like to get together when you're going scouting. Shoot me a mail at (that's a zero in 057) when you get a chance and give me your phone number.
