Help Bass Fishing on Cumberland
I have never fished for bass on cumberland
we are going in two weeks for a small club tournament
I think we are going out of the jamestown area. Can someone help me out on techniques and areas that might produce something.
Not looking for any specifics just general advice.

RE: Help Bass Fishing on Cumberland
I'm not the greatest fisherman around but I can lead you in the right direction. Fist of all for bait I would suggest small to medium jig with trailer, float-n-fly with a small bobber, spoons and tailspinners are popular winter time baits. As the water warms into the 50's the crank baits should start to turn on. I believe a jig and floating fly have been the best producers this winter but the cranks, spinner baits, and soft platics should start to take over as the water warms. This is from a guy that wins less than the fish do but this is pretty baisic info on most deep lakes in Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee. As far as the float-n-fly goes, you can learn to cast it with a regular 6 1/2 spinning rod with a little practice, no need to buy a long rod unless you do this alot. Stop by the BP Bass pro shop in Russell Springs and they will give you the latest info when you go. Call Lake Country Outdoors 270-866-7575. Good luck. Keep moving if your not catching fish, its a big lake.
