Day 1 of the FLW at Pickwick results in a skunk for Clausen. WOW!!! 29+ pounds at Toho on Day 1 and a ZERO on Day 1 at Pickwick. Fishing can flat out humble a guy. I can certainly relate... Well, I can't really relate to 5 fish @ 29+ but can relate to a skunk!

LAST EDITED ON Mar-03-06 AT 10:39AM (EST)[p]^ Looks like it was a bad day for former Classic winners: Takahiro Omori (1 title) and George Cochran (2 titles) also zeroed.
I guess I won't feel so bad now if I blank at my little Midwest Tournament tomorrow, lol.

RE: Luke Clausen
Never got much better for fLuke, I mean Luke, day 2 brought 1 fish to the scales for 2-0, 167 place out of 201 fishermen. Ky Boy Dan Morehead did make the cut by the way. Sometimes your the windshield and sometimes your the bug. Sounds like my last weekend at Dale, 12 fish on Saturday and quit fishing 3 different spots to leave fish for Sunday tourney, Sunday NO BITES, NOTTA, NOTHING, SKUNKOLA.
Tight Lines
At least fLuke, I mean Luke, will have the title Bassmaster Classic Champion on his resume forever.

RE: Luke Clausen
I read somewhere that he was held up from the Classic and didnt have a chance to pre-fish at all, for Pickwick. Interviews etc...but it sounds like you were either on them or skunked..

RE: Luke Clausen
Yeah, he's won the FLW championship, the Bassmasters Classic and more that $1 million since 2004. I guess I'll start calling him fLuke, too.

RE: Luke Clausen
Hey, most of us haven't been put in his situation, think about it. He fishes pre spawn, spawning, and post spawning fish on Sunday. Then on Thursday he's fishing for late winter early sping fish. That makes it hard to get your mind right. Plus he's trying to figure out how to spend $500,000 before his wife finds out.

RE: Luke Clausen
Good point about going from a spawn pattern to a late winter pattern. What blew me away was seeing KVD win the Elite 50 in Texas, Wisconsin and then the Classic on the Ohio River in Pittsburg... All back to back to back. That's amazing when you stop and think about it.
I agree with Easy about the Fluke comment. Look at Skeet Reece. He skunked on the last day at Toho. Does that mean he's a fluke when he does well. C'mon, it's fishin', man. Some days you go with a pattern and it just doesn't work out.

Fluke.......I don't think so......

LOL! Ain't that the truth! :)

RE: Luke Clausen
You know who makes fun of winners? Losers.

RE: Luke Clausen
I'm sure that skunk was easy to handle with the classic win still fresh in his mind. Not many people win a classic in their fishing career but everyone will produce a skunk!! You can take that to the bank.....

RE: Luke Clausen
He doesn't have a wife and he sold his house and is traveling around staying with friends and fishing tournaments.
