Installing recessed foot pedal
Has anyone installed one of the Comfortroll recessed foot pedals in their boat? I am considerring this one or a competitors but really am concerned about cutting a hole in the deck (structural problems or water leakage?)If by chance you speared a wave, how quick would it drain? It couldn't be good for the motor if the pedal is submerged in water for very long. I know it would help with fatigue at the end of a long day. Does anyone have any feedback on this subject?
RE: Installing recessed foot pedal
We just became a distributor for Conforttroll and I am really impressed with their product. Not because we're a dealer, but I would 100% take your boat to a dealer and have this done. There's too much to risk by doing it wrong yourself, versus paying someone $120-200 to install it. I don't know where you are from, but I'm sure there is a dealer nearby that can do it.

Matt,
Price one for me--if you think they are real good. Thanks--or I could just call you---whatever is cool. Also, how long is the turn around on this job?

Do the recessed pedals work for aluminum boats just as well as they work for fiberglass boats?
RE: Installing recessed foot pedal
Mark,
Call and talk to Richard in our parts department. We reviewed prices last week and he has the list. The only unknown is exact labor on each boat. It's between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours labor depending on the boat. We have them in stock and would probably be able to get that in the schedule in 2 weeks. We've got all 7 mechanics rigging sold boat and we've got to pump out about 50 by mid March, so after that's over it's free and clear.

RE: Installing recessed foot pedal
Comfortroll makes a great recessed pedal,i've installed 2 of them myself in both of my boats and my partner installed one in his boat as well.Installation is very simple,if you can use a jigsaw and a drill then you're halfway there. It comes with a template that you just lay on the deck and trace around with a marker, then you just drill a hole to get the jigsaw in and cut around the pattern, nothin to it at all.If you take your time it should only take you about an hour to do it,its a little messy, just keep your shop vac runnin while you're cuttin though and it'll cut down on the dust.
You can order them direct online for $150 including delivery,i got mine 3 days after placing the order. They're powder coated aluminum, come with the mounting screws, drain hose and the template. If you have back or knee problems you'll be amazed how much this will help you,it takes a lot of stress of the knees and lower back,i'll never fish out of another boat that doesn't have one.
