Fishing next week 3/15-17?? Need advice
I live in Oldham County, and I'm planning on going fishing next Wed-Fri with my son. We are not real experienced fisherman and usually just mess around Nolin casting different baits. Have a bass boat and electronics (but don't use the Fish finders much).
Anyone have any suggestions on where to go and what baits or techniques might be successful this time of year? We're willing to go to most any lake in Ky or Southern Ind.
Thanks
Glenn

Glenn,,,you might try Lake Malone near Central City,,,south of of US 431. Its smaller and very manageable,,,lots of small creeks and bays to hide from the wind. Its easy to catch some small bass and bluegills. You can also stay at a nice little motel right on the lake,,,also good mom and pop restaurant. Its called Shady Cliff resort. They also have a bait shopLake Behear near Dawson Springs is similar, but I'm not sure where to stay. It too is a small manageable lake in case the wind gets up,,,,,plenty of small bays to get away from the wind.

Glenn,
I'd go on down to KY Lake or Barkley Lake if I were you. I live 25 miles from Malone, and when I bought a new boat, I made sure to buy one with a motor too big for the lake.
The lake had a 150 hp limit. I don't know when the new regs take hold, but the new regs will allow a 200 hp the weekend after labor day to the weekend before Memorial Day.
I HATED that lake. Still do.
If you go down to Barkley/KY and want a great place that is not fancy, i.e. your wife isn't with you, try the Regency Inn. Around $50 a night, clean, resturants nearby, less than 10 miles to Mineral Mounds on Barkley, maybe 15 or so to KY Dam.
Good luck,
Danny

Glenn...another good inexpensive place to stay is the RELAX INN just off the Kuttawa exit.
