I got the news yesterday. Although I am exactlty what they are looking for in regard to personality, experience, and passion, I don't have a college degree yet... and HR would not budge off of that requirement.
Guess I won't be joining the club after all. I need an income to afford it first.
I've read before that college degrees have a shelf life of only 4 to 6 years. Therefore, if I had gotten my degree when I was 22, it would no longer be relevent, but I would be hireable. I am trying to find those articles online. I'm not going to just accept a no for an answer, not until I explore all possiblities.
Funny thing though, I was asked, very passionately at that, to be sure to call them when I complete my degree, as they want to hire me...... huh?? When I go back to work, and I complete my degree using a tuition reinbursement program, my loyalty will be to that company, and I won't be just jumping companies because they think I am such a great fit, if only I had that piece of paper.
For you young folks out there... man, college was so boring to me.... easy is the word. I had the chance to make big money, but would have had to drop out of college. I did that. Now I am paying. Moral of the story.... FINISH YOUR DEGREE!!!!
