Starter help....
I have a 1984 Johnson 50 and my starter kicked the bucket.
Anyone have any tips on how to get a new one, or my old one fixed at a reasonable price?
I was told $200 or more for a new one, but was hoping I could stumble onto a better deal than that.
Thank you!

call around to electrical repair shops some times its just the brushes which can be replaced very inexpensively. places that rebuild car starters can do it...

I am not sure the name of the business, it is about a half mile to 1 mile on the right once you get past the kroger. I will see if I can fine the name or address.

RE: Starter help....
You could try Koger Marine if you wanted a good used starter at a bargain price. They might also have a rebuilt one. I got one for my 74 40hp Johnson for 50.00. They are near Lake Cumberland and the phone no. is 606-348-0164. Ask for Rick.

Thank you all for responding. That was certainly a big help.
I will start to call around to these businesses and see what can be arranged.
