6 Year old Leukemai Patient
I just spent about 10 minutes on the phone with with the Director of NewYorkSaysThankYou.org to verify the email I recieved. You can help by sending pictures of your biggest fish to this 6 year old Leukemia Patient. He is getting a bone marrow transplant soon (In the letter) and several organizations are working to repair his home and to assist the family. PLEASE send your picture and include a note that this is from the Fishin.com Guys.

Dear Friend:
Tony Nata is a 6-year-old avid fisherman in Slidell, Louisiana who is battling Leukemia. Next Friday on April 21st, he is scheduled to undergo what we hope and pray will be a life-saving bone-marrow transplant from his 4-year-old sister Ali. His family home was severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina but thanks to the generosity of people from across the United States, we were able to rebuild Tony’s fishing decks last December. Next week, volunteers from Foundation Hope will start the work to finish Tony’s house including the “clean room” where he will reside in isolation for the first 100 days following his transplant.
If you have a minute, please click here to watch the initial CNN video about Tony’s story and click here (http://www.newyorksaysthankyou.org/news.html for a page with all video of the ORG. Helping this young man) (Jimmy Houston shows up in one) to see the follow up CNN piece when we re-built Tony’s fishing decks. We guarantee it will touch your heart.
Now here’s where you come in. We are sending this e-mail to fishing guides around North America with a very simple and special request: Please send Tony an envelope with a photo of you and your biggest catch! Feel free to write a “get well” note on the back and please include 1 fishing lure. We can’t imagine anything more uplifting for this little boy than for him to receive lures and photos of trophy catches from caring fisherman all across the United States so we can get him focused on his next fishing expedition following his isolation period! Feel free to pass this e-mail on to your friends and colleagues as well.
You can mail your photo and lure directly to:
“Little Tony” Nata
4611 Pontchartrain Drive
Slidell, LA 70458
Thanks for making this special project a reality for this special little boy and his family.
God bless.

IF you cant send a lure at least send a picture.. I think Pictures and notes from a LOT of people will definitely raise his spirits.

RE: 6 Year old Leukemai Patient
Thanks Jim dicken
I sent this to some friends of mine earlier today right after I read the post.
I got this one from the FISHIN.COM board and this one made me think and got to me a little bit. When I read this I think how lucky I am to have two good boys and a wonderful wife that are healthy.
We have our daily struggles and we think they are so bad, but when I read this and think life is really good to me and mine.
I am making a challenge to you that fish to take a minute and take a picture and GIVE UP A LURE, to this kid. It may make a little bit of difference to him at small cost to us! Sometimes the simplest things can work wonders.
I will CHALLENGE my club members and all people in the Tourney I will be fishing Sunday to do the same.
This is what I sent to several people by e-mail
NOW I CHALLENGE EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD TO DO THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-15-06 AT 06:49AM (EST)[p]I have a nephew who is a leukemia survivor, he was diagnosed when he was about 2 years old and is now almost 15. He also loves fishing. I feel that we can give this child more than a lure. Anyone who has equipment that they are not using or are planning to sell, think about sending it to him. With GOD'S help, in a little while he will be able to use that equipment. Who knows, that rod, reel , tackle box, what ever you send, might just be the thing that boosts his hope and enthusiasm enough to get him over the hump with this illness.
RE: 6 Year old Leukemai Patient
The CNN tapes indicate he has Rods and Reels, but if he gets all these lures he WILL need Tackle Boxes to put them in.. So if you got an extra send him one. I sent him a hat and shirt today from CafePress with my logo on them. Fishing Hat with mesh for summer.
Working on some pics to send him, as well as a fishing trip with a guide down that way if his dad wants it.. The organization is already helping to provide a trip to Arizona a guide donated and he also got some of the Airline Ticket paid for.

RE: 6 Year old Leukemai Patient
Hey, went last night and bought the young man a new bait myself. I did not want to send him one of my old ones.
come on guys, for no more that $5 think about the joy we can bring this young man. I've had many people in my family affected by luekemia, and I lost a cousin when I was 13 to the disease. Fortunately medicine has advanced a lot since then.
Let's over flow his mail with pics. and new lures. Let's all make sure to add the "get well" note and let's let them know the package comes from fishin.com... ky board. We could very easily make a new friend for life, and here some good fishing stories from down that way.
In fact, I challenge everyone of you on the board, send one lure and one picture of a nice bass. It won't cost any of us a bundle, but will bring this youngster a bundle of joy.

RE: 6 Year old Leukemai Patient
I forgot to mention he loves to fish for Redfish and Speckled Trout.. as well as fresh water fish on Lake Ponchatrain.
RE: 6 Year old Leukemai Patient
Done. Talked to my little boy about this young man with Leukemai and he said he wanted to send him his tackle box with some lures in it and a pic of his big bass. My prayers are with the little man and his family.
