just back from barkley

had a great trip although it was shortened by a couple days b/c i became very sick friday morning and had to come home. we arrived on sunday the 30th. conditions were horrible. we put in at kuttawa b/c it is close to one of my favorite holes. we could not even plain off it was so bad out. we had a decent day though. we had 18 with 6 keepers with 2 almost 4 lbs. we had 9 on spinners and 9 on a tube. i could barely tell when i would get a bite the wind was so bad. we had 18 more on monday with 7 keeps. this is when we found the buzzbait bite!!! the next day we caught 36 with 7 keepers and EVERY fish came on a 1/4 ounce buzzbait. we had a 4.12, 4.7, 3.8 all on a buzzbait that day. i swear we probably only fished about 7 hours total that day b/c we had a loooong nap!! i limited out on a buzzbait! that was the most fun i ever had fishing. they were nailing the buzzbait. i went through a few of them b/c the were tearing them apart when they busted them. on wednsday, we caught 25 with 6 keepers. biggest fish was 4.1. all fish came off the buzzbait again. thursday, our buzz bite slowed and we only had about 12 fish and three keepers. these were caught on tubes and spinners, and flukes. friday we had to leave b/c of my illness.... almost everyone was out carolina rigging and deep cranking points so we were getting most of the bays to ourselves. i was so shocked at why the locals were doing that while we were catching nice bags with the buzz. we saw NO ONE throwing the buzz except us. this was one of the most fun trips i have ever taken b/c my favorite bait is the buzz and they ripped it out of our hands it seemed like every cast!!!!

Over on KY last Wednesday, we could not get a fish on top, all of ours were on primary or secondary points, and were caught in relativly shallow water, but we had to have at least 10 feet a cast away from shore. Our biggest that day was a little over 6, and we had 23 total.

This has by far been my best spring down there, but I just figured it was because I have actually gotten to fish in the spring as opposed to working like I usually had to do.

Having that kind of day on buzzbait is awesome!!! Hardcore bass fisherman dream about those days cuz they don't come too often. Good job, man!

My buddy and I had a day on Shenandoah River on buzzbait a few years ago that I'll never forget. We had 90 smallies that day. About 60 came on buzzbait. Yeeeeaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

It was a very special weekend! Always a good feeling that when you do something and expect results and get them. Never had anything remotely as close as this one! cant wait to get back to that lake again! LOL! Next time, maybe it will be the a big tourney that will start it all...LOL a guy can dream!

went to the doc yesterday and was diagnosed with MONO!! doc said there is no medicine to take that rest is the only cure. well i think fishin will be my cure!

Hey, I don't know if you were kidding about fishing while you have mono, butt, if you were serious, please rethink your decision. Not a good thing to do with a spleen as big as a softball, or larger.
