Nolin bluegill nests
Does anyone know where the bluegill might be nesting at Nolin? I've checked the Dog Creek low-end several times in the recent past, but never found them despite some evidence of old nests. I will be heading down on Friday and can taste them already. Well, hopefully anyway. ;)
Thanks in advance,
Dave

RE: Nolin bluegill nests
Took the Grandkids this past Sat. morning, fished Dog Creek, all the way down to Briar Creek, found more down in Briar than anywhere in 4' of water. But you must understand the water was rising all day Sat. so once it is back at pool they should be in about 2' of water. Most all we caugth were full of eggs ready to drop. We had alot of fun,1st time to get my grandkids out fishing with me.

The water came up about 6 feet from Thursday to Sunday. I'm sure they will start dropping it pretty fast. This should really screw up the fish this week.

RE: Nolin bluegill nests
Just checked the COE site, I had no idea it was so high. <sigh> Yet another planned trip ruined. I don't have much time to fish, and in the past 3-4 years I've had nothing but bad luck. This season it seems to be even worse, likely because I finally bought a boat.

Dave,
Don't give up so fast......the water down near the dam should be okay, or in briar creek. Try using crickets on very small hook, under a bobber about 3' deep. I had to help my 2 grandsons and we had 15 very nice gills, we only fished about 2 hours and they wanted to boat ride because of the heat.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'll still head down to relax and help my uncle around the cabin. And just maybe with a little effort and luck the fryer will be bubbling. It's been too long.

Dave, as the other fellow said up, don't give up. I love to fish high water and raising water. Of course I fish for bass and they follow the water line when it is raising that way.
Go, have fun, and then tell us how well you did.
