RE: FISHING GREEN RIVER LAKE
good luck! don't get frustrated, and never give up, will be the attitude you will want on that pond
RE: optipop dont give up on your home lake
you have fished there for years and still you have no luck!!!! Maybe you need a guide you can't be any whorse there!!!!!
RE: optipop dont give up on your home lake
green can be very tough. its mostly a clear water lake. if you like fishing clear water then hang out on main lake points and fish deep. if you like stained water go up in robinson creek you'll find it there pretty quick. it's a lot shallower than the main arm but it has real good color. or you can go WAY up the main river arm there is some good color there too.
RE: FISHING GREEN RIVER LAKE
I've fished it only twice. Consider what the main forage is, shad, and where they would be located for the tiem of year.
I know I got into a nice school of smallies the first time I was there. A very nice 2.5 lber was my quickest reward. I left them biting so I could have them for the next day in a tournament. Unfortunately the weather changed significantly and they moved. I still caught some fish there, including a keeper, but mostly smaller ones.
The lake has all kinds of fishing scenarios... rocky, flooded timber, shallow stained water. I never found any grass, but like I said, only fished it twice.
Good luck,
Danny

It is tough but there are some good long points that hold some nice fish, also there are some creek chanels that aren't bad if you have decent electronics to stay in them. Crankbaits and jigs are good.
RE: FISHING GREEN RIVER LAKE
Watch out for them toothy critters, they love crankbaits....
RE: FISHING GREEN RIVER LAKE
I have no patterns/tips to share but I have fished it even though it's been a few years now. Don't be surprised if you hook into a Musky or two while bass fishing. I caught a Musky that was around 26" long and man he fought like crazy, to be quite honest at first it felt like I had the bottom of the lake attached to my line until he finally started kicking. Good luck and don't forget, please report back here next week and let us know how you did.
RE: FISHING GREEN RIVER LAKE
Thanks guys for all the info. From the looks of things I hope the water isnt up to bad. I figured crantbaits and carolina rigs. Does anyone know where they catch the smallies? I would love to try and get into them this weekend.
