I need Help finding a good technique for a beginner fly fisherman
The best guy I have seen, is Gerry somebody I don't know his last name sorry. but BPS hires him to do seminours sometimes. he lives off of Old Shep in Louisville. He also guides on the cumberland river.Maybe somebody can come up with his last name and a phone number.
I believe the fellow Decker is referrinf to is Gerald McDaniels. If you sre interested in flyfishing I would sugest you subscribe to Fly-Fishing magazine. With your subscription they will send you a vert informative book " Fly-Fishing Tactics". Pretty well covers the spectrom.
hey if your just beginning and are just wanting to get some good experience, go to wal mart and buy either some of the little spider flies of some bluegill poppers. Go find a small farm pond close to you and you can absolutely crush bluegill, i caught 80 in about 3 hours the other day, you can have a ball.
If you are ever in the TN area, I would suggest going to a little hole in the wall community called Buck Snort. There is a gentleman there who has a stream running through his property that he has stocked with Rainbow, Brown, and Steelhead. He charges $25 an hour to fish and it is catch and release only. Expensive, I know, but when you are a beginner like me and on your first fly fishing trip you hook into a 12 pound steelhead or 5lb rainbow - it hooks you to flyfishing for life. He's just finished some cancer treatment, but if he is feeling up to it, he will definately work on casting with you.
I am not a very good caster, but I got the basics from watching A River Runs through It - I would rewind the part where the dad is teaching the boys how to cast over and over, or you can get casting DVDs at Wal-Mart
pastorbass, what large town is buck snort near? my wife has just taken up fly fishing and i would gladly pay 25 to watch her fight a steely or large rainbow. so far we have done most of our trout fishing on the cumberland below wolf creek dam and it has never been disappointing. just ain't no steelies. thanks for the info.

We took the Interstate through Nashville towards Memphis I think.
