RE: Collegiate Bass Fishing.
This is great, I have been help the L-raisin Anglers @ UofL this year and they are doing a great job getting Bass Fishing started here in Louisville. They really go all out to put on great tournaments. I know the hard work will pay off soon. Coach Greg Paschal
RE: Collegiate Bass Fishing.
so Im gonna chime in on this one. Troy (CBAA prez) comes to myself and Eric (UL president) with this idea of doing the kentucky collegiate championship of bass fishing since we have a number of established programs here. Great, he goes on to tell us how they wish to host the event, really make it something special and all that. So of course we jump on board simply from a few choice words placed in that redbird newspaper (LMAO). So Eric and I, mostly Eric go to work on putting this event together, gathering all the teams setting a date location, all that garb. and we get back in touch with Troy. Well he informs us that they just dont have anything open on their schedule until mid '07 maybe later. Well thats a little aggrevating since we had our hopes up, ready to rock ya know, so we decide to go on with the event anyways. Well Troy had come up with a clever little title for the event ( I will not disclose for fear of lawsuits LMAO....no seriously) and for whatever reasons Eric and myself just continued to call it this. Troy sends me an email informing me that they already have the title for that particular event COPYRIGHTED????? and that we were to not use this title for our event we wished to proceed with. Im not here to bash, I think its great all the effort they wish to put forth into college bass fishing, it just flat out rubbed me wrong. I wish them nothing but the best for there club, I hope the CBAA becomes the sanctioning body for college bass fishing and all that goes well for them. But as long as I am president we will not be affiliated with them. Possibly when my term is up the bridges can be built back but until then, we will politely pass. I may be wrong in this but some of the other presidents were feeling the same way, it was just a funny deal, so best of luck to that organization, Im sure they will do just fine without UK for a while, but there is something funky behind the lines there and we will be just fine without. Anyways the "Battle of the Bluegrass" will go ahead as planned on June 25th on Barren River lake and event major university in Ky will be represented to some extent. Hate to ramble on guys but just had to vent,
Kyle Crager
UK Bass Team President

RE: Collegiate Bass Fishing.
Yes, the things Kyle had mentioned are true. Myself and Scott feels the same about the organization, but it is new so hopefully things come together for them. But they have not impressed me any, especially how they rank teams???? Oh well, I believe if they intend to stay with the game they must be on our level. Does not seem like they have things organized...
Not here to bash either, just a little upset about the Kentucky Collegiate championship thing that is going on. They said they would contact me but failed to ever return my calls or emails, as well as Scotts. So I am in the same boat as Kyle with the CBAA as of now, unless things change.
Kyle are you all doing any fishing down there this weekend? I'll be there this weekend camping out, as well as next Friday to do some pre-fishing for sunday. Let me know, we can hook up and camp out, play some guitar. Nevertheless, I'll see you the 25th!

RE: Collegiate Bass Fishing.
The CBAA doesn't quite have all of their stuff in order and I really don't expect much to come out of them. Until they prove otherwise, I really don't intend on doing much with them. It seems to me they have high hopes and large expectations, but are going about it all wrong. I told Troy that I would gladly serve as an advisor and as a voice of the college anglers as to what we want and expect, but he hasn't been very open or contacted me since. In the meantime, ESPN, Fox College Sports, and the American Bass Anglers are all very receptive to college angling and I feel full support of their endeavors are worth while.
Collegiate Angling can be a large market and I feel the CBAA is just looking to cash in. College angler input apparently means very little to their organization, and until it does I have no business with them.
To all college anglers, stay strong, support what you believe in, and uphold the highest standards of this sport we hold so dear. We are on the berth of a great thing and it is up to us to make it what we want.
See you all at Barren River Lake on the 25th !!!
