I STRONGLY urge that every KBF sanctioned club make sure a representative is there to vote on your club's behalf. This may turn out to be a very important meeting. My name is Jim Richardson, if you make it to the meeting be sure to introduce yourself and say hi.
RE: KBF to convene special meeting
Jim,
Might want to post a time when Donnie tells you all and also that place is actually in Shepherdsville and not Louisville. I wanted to back up what Jim said--heard today that the meeting is a very important one to the Federation guys and the KBF is really wanting to know which way our clubs are wanting to go with this deicsion. This is not a decision to be made by KBF directors or President----it's a decision to be made by its' members!!!! It's time we think about what's going on and make a smart business decision. Hopefully it goes the right way and all is well once again.
RE: KBF to convene special meeting
Donnie posted it on the KBF website:
10 AM Sunday December 11, 2006
Federation members please read!!!!
Bump.
The purpose of this meeting is to vote on the future direction of the KBF. Each club representative at the meeting will have one vote. We will decide whether to totally support the Bass Federation(TBF) and stay open to all options available to us, or break ranks and try to continue our exclusive relationship with ESPN/BASS/Jones/Rucks.
It's interesting that ALL ESPN media outlets have been totally silent on the TBF issue. Gary Jones (BASS VP and GM) released an open letter and Robert Cartlidge (TBF President) responded with his own letter, but that's it. Not a peep from the Saturday morning ESPN shows or the BASS ragazines. Seems to me they'd be spinning away right now.
Either:
A. They don't care.
B. Are waiting to see how united we are.
C. They want the TBF gone and they'll take as many Fed anglers as they can in the weekend series. (BTW, Jason Quinn a well known touring pro just won one of the WEEKEND series regionals. Aside from the higher cost, you'll be needing to beat some guys that fish tournaments for a living to make the big dance that way.)
D. They've screwed up so badly they just don't know what to do.
E. None of the above
Ray Scott did a supposedly unbiased interview where he backed Rucks' actions toward TBF leadership. Scott said he recommended they "release" the TBF leaders when he first met them. (News flash Ray, you can't fire someone who doesn't work for you. Even if you are the founding father and have sold whatever vestiges of integrity you had left.)
IMO, Mr. Jones and Mr. Rucks will come forward sometime in December and The ESPN media machine will kick into high gear once they get their heads out of their butts and figure how out how to play it. They'll make a serious effort to break the TBF's backbone, and with their power it'll no doubt hurt some, but I don't believe it'll succeed.
I heard BASS is calling Fed members at their homes asking them to send their dues directly to BASS. Speaks volumes about who we're dealing with here.
