Info Needed on fishing below the Dam at Louisville
I was wanting to go below the locks at Louisville and give some of the big blues down there a shot. I have never fished in the area though. I have heard people say be carefull or you'll tear something up. Does anyone have any helpfull hints about fishing the dam below Louisville. I have a good river map so I can reference to it if I need to. I am wanting to catch mainly big blue cats. Thanks in advance for the help.
Thanks, Jeremy
RE: Info Needed on fishing below the Dam at Louisville
If you put in at Clarksville that is right across the river from the hydro plant and lower dam. I am not a catfisherman normally but I understand most of the catfishing is done below the hydro dam. If you put in at Clarkvilles and make the short run across other than current there is little problem with shallow water or rocks. The areas that are bad that way are the area just below Clarksville on the Indiana side (old blown out dam) and traversing the rocks shelves running to the upper dam.
I used to fish below the hydros for stripers and best I remember the catfishermen would anchor out from the hydro a ways and put live or cut bait on the bottom.
