New to Forum
I am new to this forum and would like to introduce myself. My name is Lynn Williams, my wife and I moved from northern California to Owensboro Kentucky last September. I fished tournament for about 22 years in California but I have slowed down after I hurt my back and had surgery.
I have been building fishing rods for about 11 years and about 4 years ago I started a little Rod Building business (Williams Custom Rods).
I have checked here in Owensboro KY for Bass clubs and have not found anything yet.
I am going to look for a boat in few months because I sold my Ranger when we left California.
I hope to learn more about fishing the local waters from you guys and if I can help in any way let me know.
Thank You
Lynn Williams

Welcome Lynn....
Welcome to KY and our area.
I live about 35 miles south of you, outside of Central city. I too have a bad back, so I understand your pain very well. My doctors there in Owensboro have been wanting to do surgery for the last 4 years or so.... really dragging my feet on that.
I used to fish in a club in Owensboro, but it disbanded about 3 years ago. We had something like 8 members and 48 pages of rules. LOL
There is a small, or used to be, paper club there in Owensboro. This means they belong to a club for BASS Federation purposes, so they can fish the KBF qualifiers. There is a buddy club here in CC, but I don't belong to that. If I do join another club, I expect I'll go back to the Southern KY Bassmasters in Bowling Green. However for you, it might be closer to check out the Hancock county bass club. I can't remember any of my old contacts there, but if you check around at some of the little mom and pop places, you can probably find a contact. You might also try Steve McNaughten at the Boatman, or the guy that owns Tyler's Boats, just across the river. I know a lot of the Hancock county guys did have boats from him.
Good luck, and again, WELCOME to our area.
Tight lines and God Bless
Danny

RE: New to Forum
Welcome aboard, and nice first post, wouldn't mind seeing one of your rods. What kinda price tag are we talking about, if you don't mind me asking?

RE: New to Forum
I will try to figure out how to put picture on the forum. Price on rods depends on type of blank, guides, reel seat, handle and what kind of wrap on the guides and decorative wrap but a average 6 ½ Spinning rod is around $120.00.
Here is some picture of a rod I posted on another site; this rod went for $155.00 because of the reel seat and decorative wrap.

Welcome Lynn
I am somewhat new to the board, (one/two months) I think you have found a good board. There are some very knowledgeable fisherman and they are willing to share there expertise.
I have fought a bad back for years, about six years ago I ended up in rehab and was finally convinced I would have to exercise. Have followed my exercise program six days a week and I am doing better than I have in the last 25 years. One of the best exercise for a back is walking the rest is just stretching. The reason I am telling everyone this is I had been told this for years. I should have listened sooner.

I just wanted to let you know that the owner prefers to not have pictures shown in the forums. There are a couple of reasons for that, but just wanted to let you know that I believe he has the HTML turned off so that you probably can't display an image here.
Also, anytime you want to go fishing, give me a shout. You can email me from this site, and I'll either give you a call, or send you my number. Always looking for new people to fish with.
I really only have a couple of rules, maybe three...
Big motor running and we are on plane, life jackets on.
What ever I have in the boat, feel free to use.
No alcohol allowed out on the water. I don't want anyone to die while with me...LOL and alcohol and water makes a deadly combination if one isn't careful.
Tight lines and God Bless
