Can we get better TV coverage for fishing?
Hey Guys and Girls....
We are all posting.. or a lot of us are, about the decline in the value of TV coverage of our favorite sport. Below is a comment I summitted on BassFan.com
As you know, it is not a bulletin board, and your submissions don't just automatically get posted on their opinion page. This one probably won't make it, because it is more of a request. I ask each of you to also make the same type request... if you agree with it.
here's the post:
RE: Jay Kumar's opinion piece
About a year before "Bass Saturday" (now bass 150 minutes) I sent in a suggestion to this site to start a BassFan News Network. I suggested even a name... BassCenter. I am sure I am not the only one who ever thought of that name. However, that's not the issue.
BassFan.com has proven there is a real need for true, unbiased reporting of the sport. BassCenter did not do that... they rarely reported on FLW events, and the rare exception was early in the show's existance, not at all in the latter days.
Now is the time that BassFan can again grab the reins of outdoor reporting, and take it into the future. Consider teaming up with the Outdoor channel, OLN... soon to be versus, or Fox Sports... heck even one of the Men's networks like Spike!!! The production of the show was good, but was that really ESPN, or was it the work and vision of JM Associates?
Jay, please step up... bring us the unbiased shows we all want. You and one of the afore mentioned networks could team up to produce BFNN... BassFan News Network. You could deliver shows like LoudMouth Bass and BassCenter, under different names of course, and you could bring us the unbiased shows we want.
It was tried once, by making the deal with the devil... ESPN since they owned one of the trails, and maybe another deal would need to be struck with FLW...... but it would have to ensure total unbiased coverage. The good and the bad would have to be exposed.
Please Jay... consider this proposal. I will also post this on other fishing websites and asked others to submit similar requests.
Thank you BassFan, for you really do bring us the "news" and great reporting.
Danny
Here is the web address if you choose to submit a similar request, or even if you just wish to make a comment.

Let's hope we, as fishermen, can influence our possible viewing options.
Tight lines and God Bless
