KY Lake Big Sandy River Section
Anyone fish this area of the lake recently? I have never been on this part of the lake. Open to fishing for anything that is biting. Anyone have any suggestions on what species to target and what depths and techniques. We will be staying at Pumphouse Lodging. Thanks in advance for any replies!!

Tell ole Johnny Stan said hey!
We go every spring and stay at the Pumphouse Lodge and Crappie fish. We never get out of the West Sandy so don't know much about the rest of the area. I think that area is where KVD fished in in the BassMasters Tour. back in June?
RE: KY Lake Big Sandy River Section
KVD was fishing the mouth of Eagle Creek just below the Hwy 79 bridge at the entrance to Big Sandy. I believe he was fishing the ledges located there.
Big Sandy is kind of funny. I only fish for bass, so I'm talking from that end. If they're hitting, you can put 15+ pounds in the boat in a 50 yard stretch. If they're not......well.........dynamite won't work! It's either hot or cold, and occasionally somewhere inbetween.

Is McKinnon between the 79 bridge and the West Sandy? We went there once a long time ago but can't remember exactly where it is. If so is there still a ramp there and is there a place to stay nearby? Thanks

To my knowledge, there's only three resorts in the Big Sandy area. Buchanan's on Eagle Creek, Mansard Island, and Granny's Branch (not sure if it's still even there). Paris Landing State Park Hotel is right there at the 79 bridge. Close to launch ramps in the BS area is the Fishtale Lodge. Good spot for fishermen. It's just down 79 from the bridge towards Paris. Buchanan's and Mansard Island have ramps, but with the water going down I'd launch at the newest ramp in Sulphur Creek. It's about a 6 mile run from there to W. Sandy.
